The city of Leipzig and the Competence Center for Central and Eastern Europe, Leipzig (KOMOEL) organized in 2011 in cooperation with the University of Leipzig, Leipzig and the Centre for European Studies with the support of other sponsors at the University of Leipzig and in a lecture series titled "Ukraine in Europe", the 50th anniversary of the twinning Leipzig-Kiev (1961-2011) and the partnership between the University of Leipzig and the National Taras Shevchenko Kyiv University is dedicated. This lecture series is part of a project initiated by the Eastern historians Professor Stefan Troebst and Wilfried Jilge event focus on Ukraine.
